After 11 years in the industry this is one of the first times I've had to
pick up the call to market. I've been fortunate enough to be able to make a
living as a sales professional in this industry for many years. I speak to
engineers all over the country both eye to eye and over the telephone. The
one thing this industry has never understood is the knowledge that is
ultimately lacking among many of our consumer segment. We are marketing
consumer services! Equipment, materials and processes for some are
confusing but for many there exists a void of information. Since there is
no uniform environment to reach out to everyone who needs to know what is
new and available than we cannot create a vacuum for a select few to share
narrow application banter. If an RP-ML message gets forwarded to any
engineer in need of learning than that message has been a venue for teaching
and ultimately generates knowledge and usage beneficial to the entire

Hi Mr. Sachs,

With all due respect, I personally feel the RPML's allowance of "it is
entirely acceptable for a RP vendor to announce a new product" has not only
benefited my business in the past, but also helped increase knowledge in the
rapid prototyping community of the Objet PolyJet rapid prototyping
technology. I feel ANY company's advertisement of something proud and
exciting is always good news and tells me the industry is still alive and
well and still full of entrepreneurial spirit. So, I'd like to personally
congratulate Acu-Cast for successfully furthering the growth and goals of
the Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing industry.

I hope we don't start seeing regular advertising here, because it could
rapidly get out of hand (imagine 1500 companies posting ads here!). IMHO, I
think the below posting is 'borderline', but I don't mind a few 'important'
commercial announcements.
