In working with a university, I found a problem associated with Y2K that
could be of some interest to members of this list. The IS department of
an unnamed university decided to see if they would have a Y2K problem
when January comes. They advanced the date to January 01, 2000.
Lo and behold, they found that some of the problems that they worried
about did not happen, but-- they also found out that many of the
software licenses had now expired--because the date was beyond the
validity date of the 1999 license period.

Result--No conventional Y2K problem was found, but a nearly total system
crash resulted when the software licenses expired prematurely.
