Hi Marshall,

Trust all is well!

You beat me to that Sheku! At Covenant, you could approach Prof Christian Amaechi Bolu (https://covenantuniversity.edu.ng/Profiles/Bolu-Christian-Amaechi#.X1n6alVKjRZ) who is pretty well connected.

In Morocco (North Africa), they have just postponed the 1st CASICAM Conference (http://casicam.com/) due to Covid-19, until June 2021.

Regards,

Allan Rennie

Marshall,
There are additive manufacturing efforts in several countries in Africa.
Here is information for South Africa's RAPDASA https://site.rapdasa.org/<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fsite.rapdasa.org%2F&data=02%7C01%7Ca.rennie%40lancaster.ac.uk%7Ccfcf5c4d55004f3a9de908d855a0ca97%7C9c9bcd11977a4e9ca9a0bc734090164a%7C0%7C1%7C637353496367189876&sdata=0K0zl0DLYxWkSPI%2FDcsGF5PadgtXcZPBgEhfCbCvQ2w%3D&reserved=0>
Research is ongoing at the University of Johannesburg.

There is an association in Nigeria to promote additive manufacturing and several printers at Covenant University https://covenantuniversity.edu.ng/<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=https%3A%2F%2Fcovenantuniversity.edu.ng%2F&data=02%7C01%7Ca.rennie%40lancaster.ac.uk%7Ccfcf5c4d55004f3a9de908d855a0ca97%7C9c9bcd11977a4e9ca9a0bc734090164a%7C0%7C1%7C637353496367199873&sdata=uOWvgq%2BLi5auR1ByJ91PKFc4EYJS2C1pKREQJ%2FrEECU%3D&reserved=0> and Nigerian Foundries, Ltd, http://nigerianfoundries.com/capability/#engineering<https://eur02.safelinks.protection.outlook.com/?url=http%3A%2F%2Fnigerianfoundries.com%2Fcapability%2F%23engineering&data=02%7C01%7Ca.rennie%40lancaster.ac.uk%7Ccfcf5c4d55004f3a9de908d855a0ca97%7C9c9bcd11977a4e9ca9a0bc734090164a%7C0%7C1%7C637353496367199873&sdata=HrEFmG38YzCfdhhq6w6itOzG4rSO%2F2yK80ukTI2P1Ls%3D&reserved=0>.

There are other individual efforts in the western region and would be happy to connect him with some of the players.

Hope this helps.
Regards
Sheku

Pretty quiet in here. Are there still people here? It's hard to believe there's nothing going on in 3D printing in Africa. And I'd think that some of the old-timers here would know about it.

Hi folks,

I've had a conversation with a man who runs an investment company in Rwanda that makes seed-stage investments in technology companies in different parts of Africa. He's interested in knowing about:
              * Interesting developments in 3D printing that are happening in Africa. Could be research, education, or technology.
              * People who are interested in learning about "frontier market" investment opportunities in African tech start-ups.
              * People who might be interested in providing mentoring to African entrepreneurs, either locally or remotely.

If anyone has suggestions or input on any of that, please feel free to post it here or e-mail me privately.

I know there are better sources of connections these days than this mailing list, so if people want to suggest other places where he could reach out, that could be helpful too.

              Thanks.

Regards,
Marshall Burns
