I am working with Terry Wohlers of Wohlers Associates to include an important section in Wohlers Report 2013, an in-depth study on the developments and trends in additive manufacturing (AM) worldwide. The section, titled Academic Activities and Capabilities, provides a summary of activities from institutions and R&D centers around the world. I am seeking input from all kinds of educational and research institutions that are involved with AM.
Would you please submit a brief (50-75 words maximum) summary that describes your primary research and/or educational focus and any noteworthy or recent advancements, announcements, or breakthroughs at your institution/R&D center? The comments should be related to AM. The following is an example summary from Wohlers Report 2012.
Texas State University–San Marcos: The Rapid Product and Process Development Research Center has been in operation since 2003. The main research activities are currently on the fully dense freeform fabrication (FDFF) process with focus on metallic parts. Researchers have designed, developed, and tested computer software and working mechanism for this process.
