Researchers Look To Commercialize 3D Printing In Chocolate.
The Daily Mail (UK) (7/4) reported on an online business being set up by
"the University of Exeter in collaboration with Brunel University and
software developer Delcam" that will allow users to design
three-dimensional objects and have them printed in chocolate. The
researchers said that using chocolate "presented many challenges" because
of its temperature sensitivity, but that they "overcame these difficulties
with the development of new temperature and heating control systems."
Professor Dave Delpy, the chief executive of the Engineering and Physical
Sciences Research Council, said, "By combining developments in engineering
with the commercial potential of the digital economy we can see a glimpse
into the future of new markets - creating new jobs and, in this case,
sweet business opportunities."
