The key word there is "are". I am not saying that stuff doesn't cost
money now (just as it did in the 17th and 18th centuries).

I am saying is that, if there is no shortage of stuff, then it will be
free. I pay for a wire to my house as it takes a factory to make it and
people to maintain it. I don't pay for the phone calls I make down it
because its bandwidth (though finite) is astronomic compared to the few
KHz required to carry my voice.

My contention is that a cheap, highly-versatile, individually-owned
method of production will make almost everything free, like the phone
calls. Before you say that material stuff is not the same as phone
calls, ask yourself how few years you would have had to go back to find
a phone-company director who would have had a heart attack at the idea
of free phone calls...
