EOS sells directly to customers in the US and other parts of the world. I
think part of the settlement with EOS was to allow sales of powder in the
US. I believe some customers may be using materials other than those
offered by 3D or EOS. . . but the legality of that has to do with patent
claims. . . I'm sure if EOS or 3D felt that someone was infringing on a
patent, they'd get a letter.

Does anybody know the legal situation surrounding whether it's possible for
3D selective laser sintering users to purchase materials from parties other
than 3D?
 
Someone asked me about the lawsuit between 3D and AMES / EOS GmbH a few
years back and I really couldn't figure out what the final disposition was.
I believe that the matter might be covered in the cross-licensing agreements
that resulted from 3D and EOS burying the hatchet. Also, I would assume
that it would have always been possible to buy materials that didn't violate
3D/DTM's patents, assuming they worked and were available.
 
Are people buying SLS materials from sources other than 3D these days?
