TEACHING/RESEARCH OPPORTUNITY

 

The Metals Program at the University of Washington, Seattle, is seeking a
Sabbatical replacement for Mary Hu, Winter Quarter, 2005 (January 5-March
18).

 

Responsibilities include teaching one undergraduate course (6 contact hours
weekly), plus meeting with independent study seniors and graduates. The
topic of the course is fairly open and to be determined in discussion with
Mary Hu. Sought is someone with a strong metalsmithing or jewelry
background (an MFA is not required), who has an interest in the latest in
digital and laser advances in the field as the visitor will have use of
Metals' extensive facility which includes 3D laser scanning, ABS plastic and
wax printing RP machines, the high powered Eagle Star One laser welder, and
a titanium casting machine. The studio has a trained half time Technical
Instructor for any needed technical training.

 

Salary is $4800. Travel reimbursement is available. Inexpensive housing
can likely be arranged.
