Don't forget to look at Paraform. (www.paraform.com) It does the same things
as Rapidform and Geomagic. I use Imageware and find that for class A it is
better but for quick and dirty work Geomagic or Paraform is better. I have
seen experienced users create usable surfaces in Paraform in 10 minutes.
Your choice of software could depend on where you get your data from.
Geomgic and Imageware open up more scanner native formats than Paraform.
As always it is almost a requirement to try the software for yourself. Each
one has it's subtle differences in workflows and performance that will
affect your work. All the vendors will give you at least a month to try it
risk free.

Can you all pls give your opinions on the following software's used in
scanning and point cloud manipulation.
CopyCAD - Delcam
Rapid form
Geomagic
I would like to know how these software's have made it easier to get from
point cloud or ruff stl data to a finished model. Things like smoothing,
alignment of scans, and especially laying surfaces either automatic or
manually in design need situations. all input will be appreciated to make
our lives easier.
