RE: SLS laser power

Our oldest machine is about 8 years old. It has the original laser in it
and we just recently had to start running on a single tube because 1 of the
2 tubes became "unstable." These lasers are absolute workhorses. The
majority of issues we've had with the newer lasers is the power supply. So,
I wouldn't worry too much about the laser. As was alluded to earlier, for
every "different" setting you will have an additional scanner communication
loop. For every setting, the computer has to send the data to the scanner.
So, for 8 different settings, your scanner will actually receive and execute
8 sets of commands before the next add powder layer. If software stability
is your aim, the fewer changes, the better. But, that's quite subjective.
