Paul

The spider that you are referring to is probably the Delcam spider.

As you may be aware Delcam has always had a spider on its logo. The spider,
affectionately known as Boris, was born out of a Delcam CAD/CAM research
project at Cambridge University around 1980. Since then the Boris has been
used to test Delcam's CAD/CAM software. Boris was first modelled in DUCT in
the 1980s and machined in aluminium. Boris helped Delcam perfect gouge
free-machining in the early days.

Around 1995 we generated an STL version of Boris to test rapid prototyping
machines as part of the Eureka CARP project. As a result of this Boris
started to have a life of his own as the STL file was used by various RP
suppliers as a neat demo.

I have a couple of models in my office produced by Leeds University (one of
our CARP partners) on their SLS machine along with a milled aluminium model.

Regards

Ed

If you have 3D Studio Max, or know anyone who does you can get a 3DS file here and output as STL.

Hello list,

some time ago I saw a stereolithography model of a spider. Does anyone has or know where I can find a STL file ?

Thanks in advance for any response
