We have positive experience with policarbonate vacuum forms and moulds built
on our FDM Titan.

The FDM Titan parts are porous straight from the machine (you can set the
porosity/density with the software).

Max part size is 406 x 355 x 406 mm, but larger parts can easily be welded
onto each other using a solvent for policarb.

Thermal properties:
Glass transition temp. (ISO 11357) 148?C
Heat distortion temperature A (ISO 75 HDT/A (1.8 MPa)) 129?C
Heat distortion temperature B (ISO 75 HDT/B (0,45 MPa)) 136?C
Short time use temperature 140?C
Continuous use temperature 125?C

Onderwerp: Porous RP Material/ Vacuum Molding Request

I am looking for input on any RP processes which might fulfill the
following needs and requirement below. Machining is already being used but
I have a colleague who wants to know if there is a lower cost RP process
which can replace/augment their current method.

- What RP technologies after being fabbed can withstand temperatures of
299-325 degrees F and be used as a porous cavity mold with simple .10'"
recessed geometry for vacuum forming/molding? Overall mold size would be
..75" x 10.2" x 13.8"

- What RP technologies after being fabbed can withstand temperatures of
399-425 degrees F and will be used as a "TOOLING" plate with .125"
raised bosses of simple geometry? Overall plate size would be .75" x 10.2"
x 13.8"

Any help or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,
