Description

NASA/LaRC is hereby soliciting information for potential sources for a
system that builds three dimensional (3D) models using either
polycarbonate or polyphenylsulfone materials and can be easily upgraded
as new material are developed. The build volume shall be at least 14" X
16" X 16". The resulting models shall have superior strength, heat
resistance and chemical resistance properties. Models shall be produced
within an accuracy of +/- .0015 inch per inch or better. The system
must be able to turn CAD files into 3D models which can be used for
developing mechanical simulations for early fit/form/function checks and
shall be office friendly requiring no special venting or facility
modifications. System software shall be able to import .stl files and
automatically orient the part, generate any necessary support structure
and create deposition path to build the part. Software shall run on
Windows NT and Windows 2000 platforms and provide queue management
capability and build time & material status information. Proposed system
shall include on-site installation and a standard warranty.

No solicitation exists; therefore, do not request a copy of the
solicitation. If a solicitation is released it will be synopsized in
FedBizOpps and on the NASA Acquisition Internet Service. It is the
potential offerors responsibility to monitor these cites for the release
of any solicitation or synopsis.

Vendors having the capabilities necessary to meet or exceed the stated
requirements are invited to submit appropriate documentation,
literature, brochures, and references.
Responses must include the following: name and address of firm, size
of business; average annual revenue for past 3 years and number of
employees; ownership; whether they are large, small, small
disadvantaged, 8(a), HUBZone, and/or woman-owned; number of years in
business; affiliate information: parent company, joint venture
partners, potential teaming partners, prime contractor (if potential
sub) or subcontractors (if potential prime); list of customers covering
the past five years (highlight relevant work performed, contract
numbers, contract type, dollar value of each procurement; and point of
contact - address and phone number). Technical questions should be

considered to be a commercial or commercial-type product. A commercial

and planning purposes and is not to be construed as a commitment by the
Government nor will the Government pay for information solicited.
Respondents will not be notified of the results of the evaluation.
Respondents deemed fully qualified will be considered in any resultant
solicitation for the requirement.

The Government reserves the right to consider a small business or 8(a)
set-aside based on responses hereto. All responses shall be submitted
to Lionel Nadeau no later than March 29, 2002. In responding, reference
