Subject: Re: sheet metal

Hi Gert - The sheet metal process it self is geared to prototypes
particularly for blanking as no special tooling is usually required.
Even most forming can be performed with stock tools in a brake. Machines
like Wiederman & Amada can be directly programmed from a solid model
data base. There is even a machine (Baltec) that can be programed to
blank your piece & form parts in the Z axis, all in a single set up.

The trick is though, in finding a company that specializes in
prototyping using this equipment. The machines are all capable, but the
people?
