Having two mice or a mouse and space ball like you suggest is a major improvement over a single mouse system. I suggested have two mice, each with its own cursor, to some Autodesk representatives several years ago, but haven't seen it done yet. Using just one mouse for commands and graphics interface is like working with one hand tied behind my back. Can you select objects and move the cursor with the spaceball?
