Thanks for all the answers received regarding ascii stl file conversion.
Many of the softwares in the market can do the job of converting a binay
stl file to an ascii stl file:
MAGICS RP
SOLIDVIEW
ADMESH
SANDERS MODELWORKS
DELCAM's TRIFIX
IMAGEWARE SURFACER
SCULPT
DESKPROTO

Deskproto and Admesh have this utility included in the respective free
trial versions. I do not know of the others.
