Dear List,

A new Masters Degree in Rapid Product Development has been put together by
Phill Dickens and his research/academic staff at De Montfort University,
Leicester, UK. The degree comprises a number of modules (eg Rapid
Prototyping, Rapid Tooling, CAD for RP, Reverse Engineering, Concurrent
Engineering etc.) which are delivered by a combination of distance learning
and one week intensive contact in Leicester.
The use of a single intensive week's contact for each of the modules allows
engineers in full-time employment to participate, possibly for only one or
two modules.
The Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) has also
provided funding so that recent graduates may enroll as full-time students
for a year with £6,000 sponsorship with further money available from
potential sponsoring companies.
The course will start in the academic year 2000/2001 with the first
intensive week starting on October 9th 2000. The course as a whole or taken
as individual modules should help engineers and designers to progress their
careers in the world of Rapid Prototyping and Manufacturing.
