With the ongoing discussion about patents by RP manufacturers, you might be
interested in knowing that the Worldwide Patents granted to 3D Systems now
numbers more than 175.
The US patents alone is approximately 100. With the average cost of a patent
estimated at $15K for the life of a patent, this represents $1.5M in patent
related costs for the US alone. The estimate of $15 K per patent does NOT
include the time and expense on the part of internal 3D System personnel.
