Some interesting commentary fueled by the thousand dollar machine concept...

Seems like we're all looking for the same things in various orders of
priority... speed, castability, resolution, strength, versatility, economy...

How about a Rapid Manufacturing machine? A machine using printing technology
to deposit a ceramic or metal powder/organic binder mixture on a substrate
which can then be sintered. For very small ultra complex parts the
technology is there now. For larger parts binders must improve, but it will
happen. For parts too difficult or costly to mold this might be the only
manufacturing solution. Just a thought.
