Thanks to all who responded to my request for information. Your input was very helpful.
We are now leaning towards DeskProto 2.0 as a low cost CNC package. We found that the IGES translator on most of the low cost programs leaves a lot to be desired. DeskProto is the only one that works off of an .STL file. It also has very nice 3D rendering capabilities which most others programs in this category do not have. Also, because we plan to use it with a CNC Router "ease of use" or "Programmability" is very important to us.

Any users out there care to give us insight in to its real world application?
