Lasers for millimeter & sub-millimeter measurement

Hi rp-ers,

I'm looking for a laser device for measuring distances of the order of
millimeters and to sub-millimeter accuracy.

Can anyone out there give me some usefull advice on the matter, or
recommend a suitable manufacturer/supplier ????
