**********SME would like to announce the following educational
events**********

Screw Design for Injection Molding and Extrusion
Crowne Plaza Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor, Michigan
February 8, 2000

Benefits of Attending
Attendees of this seminar will recognize the importance of resin parameters
and their impact on successful screw design. the participant will
demonstrate an understanding of the differences between several different
barrier screw designs, the applications of such designs and how they compare
with general purpose or mixing profiles. As well, attendees will have an
opportunity to discuss their own screw designs and the applicability for
their process while recognizing the differences in designs for injection
molding, blow molding and extrusion including vented conversions and
gear-pump assisted operations.

Screw and Barrel Technology for Injection Molding and Extrusion
Crowne Plaza Ann Arbor, Ann Arbor, Michigan
February 9-10, 2000

Measurable Benefits
* Recognize when poor performance is attributable to the screw and
barrel
* Increase your knowledge about the solutions and limitations of
mixing in injection screws
* Analyze materials for different temperature
* Improve screw and barrel life with alternate materials

Plastic Product Design for Injection Molding: An Overview of Design Process
Workshop
Penn State Erie, Erie, Pennsylvania
February 17-18, 2000

Course Objective
The course begins with an overview of plastic materials, including their
behaviors and properties. it also covers material selection and application
and the effects of filler and reinforcements on those materials. An
overview of plastic manufacturing processes is presented along with plastics
design and the use of CAE tools, as well as rapid prototyping techniques.
The seminar concludes with a discussion of designing for manufacturability
and assembly.
