There is a product called HiJaak Pro which is a file conversion software
supposedly capable of converting 3DS files to DXF
(http://www.qdeck.com/qdeck/press/hjpro_ann.html). I say "supposedly"
because about 1 1/2 years ago I tried to convert such a file and had mixed
results. The attached press release refers to HiJaak 4.0 and my copy of
4.01 did a decent job of converting a 3DS file into IGES but was not so good
as a DXF. I know the software is now owned by Sumantec and is up to Rev 5.0
(I think) and I've seen it listed for about $140. If you'd like, I can try
to convert the file with my version as a test and you can decide if it's
worth your time and money to pursue your own copy.
