Z CORP. RELEASES HIGH STRENGTH, HIGH DEFINITION POWDER
ZP100 delivers a 400% increase in raw part strength and
requires no additional processing for many parts and applications

Somerville, MA - Z Corporation has released a new material, ZP100
Microstone, for the Z402* rapid prototyping system, the world's fastest 3D
printer. ZP100 is a high-strength, high-definition powder well suited to
the production of thin-walled, delicate or very small parts. Parts printed
in this new material will require no additional processing for many
applications-the powder can be removed quickly and easily. No modification
of the Z402 3D Printer is required for ZP100 and this new material can be
quickly interchanged with the existing materials. This new system further
enhances the capabilities of the Z402 System and offers unrivaled
versatility in concept modeling.

ZP100, a plaster-based powder, will work as a complement to ZP11, the
current starch- and cellulose-based powder. ZP11 delivers unrivaled speed
at a very low cost, as well as suitability for investment casting. ZP100 is
a good fit for customers that produce delicate or thin-walled parts, or
customers that require a high strength part without any post-infiltration.
ZP100 is 4-5 times stronger than ZP11, and for many parts and applications,
this greater raw strength will make post-infiltration unnecessary. Like its
predecessor, if additional strength is required ZP100 can be infiltrated
with wax or a range of resins to enhance its strength and other physical
properties, making the parts suitable for sanding and painting.

Z Corporation is simultaneously releasing a new binder material, ZB6, which
is designed to work with ZP100. ZB6 also enhances the performance of ZP11,
producing a 35% strength increase over the previous binder.

The Z402 system is an affordable concept modeling system that builds parts
in an office environment, thereby providing engineers, marketers and
manufacturers a means to communicate and improve designs in three dimensions
instead of on a flat screen or paper. The Z402 System builds many parts
several times faster than any other 3D printer on the market. The core
technology for the Z402 System was developed at and patented by MIT, and
licensed to Z Corporation. In April of 1999, Z Corporation entered a
materials research partnership with CIBA Specialty Chemicals, a leading
materials developer in the field of rapid prototyping. Customers include
Daimler Chrysler, Ford Motor, Adidas, Toyota, United Technologies, BMW,
Porsche, General Motors, Motorola, Fisher Price, Clorox, MIT, Harvard
University, and over 100 other companies and universities.

The Z402 System is now available in North America, Europe and Asia. In
these markets, Z Corporation and Z Corporation partners are ready to
demonstrate the System's ease of use by printing parts on site for potential
customers. The ability to print parts in hours has helped Z Corporation's
customers speed existing prototyping processes and use models in new ways to
change their development processes.
