We have plated our 3D Keltool inserts with many different things ranging
from Polyon to Chrome. But for what you want to do - quick tooling for
sampling aluminum die casting - you wouldn't even need to do this. The 3D
Keltool inserts WILL work fine for LOW VOLUME aluminum die casting. They
will perform much better if the material is zinc. In fact, some of our
inserts are being used for production zinc die-casting today.
