Here's one message that didn't make it to the list.

My humble appologies for the delay, I guess I've had more than my share
of the email traffic lately...

Subject: Re: Irrelevant mailing lists

I recently unsubscribed and then resubscribed to several mailing lists due
to a vacation. This list (rp-ml) did not use a majordomo verifier when I
resubscribed. All my other subscriptions used a verifier. May I suggest
that the list owner start using the verifier on all new subscription
requests?

The verifier sends out an automated response to the e-mail address from
which the subscription request originated. The recipient of that automated
response must then copy and return to the list owner a string of characters
that constitutes an "authorization key" for new subscriptions. This is an
automated majordomo function and should be easy to institute.

This won't absolutely prevent list subscription spamming (as in the recent
amazon.com crap) but it does create an obstacle to the pranksters.

Keith Nybakke
