Hi Everyone,

I have been cursing, I mean using, 3D Lightyear for about 3 weeks. Here
are my comments.

1.) The .bff files are about 1/8 the size of Maestro .bff files. Great!
2.) Slices and converges large builds in about 1 or 2 hours instead of 1
or 2 days! Slicing at the speed of sound!
3.) To set the beam comp, using Accumax, you will have to trick it when
setting up build platforms
or you can use their default. Good.
4.) Not user friendly when it comes to customizing. Like pulling teeth
from a wild boar with tweezers!
5.) The SLA5000 parameters are OK, about 5% slower than my parameters.
6.) The SLA500 parameters are poor. For some unknown reason they left
out the weave parameters?
7.) If you are using a non-CIBA resin you have a lot of work ahead of
you! The parameter files are in
binary code instead of text. To use a non-CIBA resin: copy a current
CIBA resin file with similar Dp and
Ec values. Modify all parameters, if you can, and fudge the auto z
correct. Good Luck!!

This program has come along way. My frustration comes from trying to
customizing it to my
parameters that work on the SLA-500! If every SLA machine were the same,
then it would be an ok program
but we all know that they aren't. I also realize that it takes time to
learn a new program and hopeful the new
release corrects these problems.

Jim
