Traditionally a casting method called The Rubber Plaster Method was used to prototype die-castings.
In this method a urethane rubber take-off mold is created from the master pattern with its gating system. The rubber mold
is then used for casting a plaster mold with a special plaster that is subsequently treated to enhance its permeability.
This method yields die-casting like pieces.
It is an old method with a few variations: the Antioch process, permeable metal casting plaster, etc.
