Dear John:
We have the MCP-TAFA metal spray system of HEK Germany. The system
consists of an arc spray gun No. 8850, spray booth TCa-1000, MCP 400
metal wire, fresh air helmet, release agent set, steel fillers,
Al fillers, epoxy EP-180 and release agent set.
We are using this system for coating patterns of foundry, metal
coating epoxy molds and metal coating FDM RP models. The metal coating
can vary from 1 mm to 2 mm. The metal spray is classified as cold
metal spray.
Mr. V Sridharan has just finished his Master's thesis using this system.
He studied the effects of metal spray on epoxy molds in terms
of incresing their strength and quality.
Besides the MCP-TAFA 8850 metal spray system, we have a silicone
vacuum casting system from HEK Germany and also a low melting alloy
MCP 137 system for making metal molds. We are also having the FDM
1650 system of Stratasys and Solider 4600 system of Cubital. In
reverse engineering, we are using FARO ARM - silver series and
Surfacer software of Imageware. In CAD area, we are having UG, Pro-E,
SDRC and Autodesk software.
If you need any further information about HEK, their e-mail address
is : HEK.GmbH@tonline.de
Incidently, the Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur is one of
the leading technological universities in India. We are an academic
group similar to yours at Penn State. The lab is being run by a
group of faculty, graduate students and research engineers. We do
have projects from aerospace, automotive, foundry and footwear
industries.
Good luck.
Sincerely,
Sanjay G. Dhande
