Joe, our company provides CT scanners as well as full scanning services
through CAD to RP. My background was from DTM to Accelerated Technologies
(an SLA, SLS rtv service bureau), to CT scanning at Scientific Measurement
Systems (SMS). We are fully equipped to accommodate your client for
scanning service work.

Also please look at the information on the seminar that I am assisting SME
with on Reverse Engineering: Techniques & Applications in Newport, CA on
December 8-10. You can look at the full agenda at www.sme.org or here is
the text version.

Via the internet just go to http:/sme.org/casa, and click on the words
"reverse engineering". For those of you without immediate internet
access, a text update is below:

Tutorial:
"Fundamentals Of The Reverse Engineering Process: An Overview"
Instructor: James A. Rollins, Scientific Measurement Systems
This special 3-hour presentation will give you the firm foundation you
need to understand the process and the technologies behind Reverse
Engineering. A great primer for those new to the process, or a refresher
for those who are not familiar with the entire scope of the Reverse
Engineering cycle

EVENT OVERVIEW:
The purpose of this event is to discuss the many methods of scanning &
capturing data from an existing object, review the applications that
best fit each technology, and explain how best to use data once
collected. Experts in many areas will show you the process of going from
the point of generation to creating a workable mold or prototype. The
first time on the West Coast, this event will focus on reverse
engineering case studies and the use of technologies such as 3D
digitizers, x-ray digitizing, laser trackers, stereolithography, MRI cat
scan, touch probe/CMM machines, or computed tomography in the areas of:
* Design Verification
* Rapid Prototyping
* Parts Inspection
* FEA
* Parts Dimensioning
* Flaw Analysis
* Tool Verification
* Technical Design Documentation
* CAD surface/solid creation
* Competition Comparison

Please call me at your earliest convenience.

Subject: CAT scan to RP

Dear list:

I just received the following e-mail from a company that stopped by our
booth at the MD&M show last week. They are looking for a company that can
provide RP usable files from CAT scan data. If you are involved in this
area, please e-mail your information to me and I will pass it along. Thanks
for the help.

Joe

Joseph,

We talked briefly about reverse engineering of bone samples at the MDM show
in St.Paul. You indicated that you might have a name of someone who can
proved CAT scan outputs of bone samples in SLA or other file format outputs.
I would appreciate it very much any information you could provide us in this
area.

Regards

Mike
