FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

Helsinki Company Introduces View Expert
Software Product

First Product in DeskArtes Expert Series

Helsinki, FINLAND, July 8, 1998 - DeskArtes announced today the first in a series
of new products for developers of mechanical parts and assemblies, and users of
CAD data. Dubbed the Experts Series, these products address the growing need to
communicate CAD model data among engineering professionals and others involved
in the product development process. The new products, created exclusively for
Windows NT and 95, expand on DeskArtes' mature family of CAD viewing, repair,
and design products. The company's highly-regarded Rapid Tools and Industrial
Design System have established themselves as leading products throughout Europe
 and Japan.

The first new product, View Expert, was designed for anyone needing to view
three-dimensional CAD data. Rather than requiring expensive and difficult-to-use
CAD systems, individuals in engineering, prototyping, tooling, purchasing,
marketing, and sales can view CAD solid models at the click of a button. Other
companies charge hundreds of dollars for similar software, but DeskArtes is
making View Expert available free of charge - no strings attached. View Expert
supports the popular STL file format. Optional IGES and VDA translators and
 verification tools are available.

"We are happy to be the first company to offer advanced 3D CAD viewing software
at no cost," said Dr. Charles Woodward, president of DeskArtes. "We hope that
this offer will help accelerate the acceptance of 3D model data among non-CAD
users," Woodward added. View Expert enables you to display, smooth-render,
rotate, zoom, pan, and print STL model data. For individuals needing to inspect
the interior of a model, the software offers a powerful clipping plane feature
using easy-to-use slider bars. The software also permits you to copy and paste
the CAD model into other Windows applications for presentation, publication,
 and other communication reasons.

The registered version of the View Expert includes the capabilities of free
View Expert, as well as features that CAD users desire as they prepare and
refine CAD models for downstream applications. Most CAD solid modelers output
STL file data, but most do not import and verify the integrity of this data.
View Expert permits CAD users to validate the data before sending it to others
for rapid prototyping and other purposes. The software identifies errors or
problems in the file and locates them so the CAD user can correct the problem
in the CAD software. View Expert also offers quick measurement capabilities
for individuals needing to check the size of holes, walls, and other dimensions
on the model. The software automatically calculates the parting line of the
model, helping designers prepare parts for molding applications. View Expert
registered version containing optional IGES or VDA-FS translator sells for $495.

"This new product demonstrate our commitment to developing software that enhances
the product development process," said Woodward. "We recognize important trends
in the industry, such as the increasing popularity of CAD modeling and Windows
computing, and are working hard to anticipate future needs and requirements."
The Windows-native products in the Expert Series comply with Windows user
interaction standards. Later this year, DeskArtes will introduce two additional
products under the Expert Series umbrella.

Privately-owned DeskArtes Oy develops and commercializes world-class software
