     CONCORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--June 29, 1998--

Developer of Award-Winning Solid Modeling Software to Provide 400
                Grant Licenses to Academic Institutions

     SolidWorks Corporation, a Dassault Systemes S.A. (Nasdaq:DASTY)
company, today at the American Society of Engineering Education Conference
in Seattle, announced the establishment of the SolidWorks Academic Grant
Program. The Grant Program awards approximately 400 licenses of
SolidWorks(R) software to engineering departments at two and four year
academic institutions. The SolidWorks Academic Grant Program, valued at
over $2,000,000 (US), was established to further the integration of design
automation technology in all areas of engineering instruction. Continuing
its commitment to bring the power of production solid modeling to the
desktop of every engineer, SolidWorks introduces its Academic Grant Program
to ensure that future industry leaders will be prepared to compete in the
fast-paced engineering marketplace.

The SolidWorks grant licensing package includes: SolidWorks 98, the
company's powerful, Windows-based 3D mechanical design product;
PhotoWorks(tm), an integrated rendering application; and one year of
subscription service and support from an authorized SolidWorks reseller.
SolidWorks academic grant recipients will also receive a set of SolidWorks
98 training manuals, in addition to the standard SolidWorks user guides and
tutorials.

"SolidWorks recognizes that today's students are tomorrow's industry
leaders," notes Jon K. Hirschtick, CEO of SolidWorks. "Today's mixed world
of 2D automated drafting tools, and ad-hoc 3D modeling programs can be
overwhelming for engineers, students and educators alike. SolidWorks is
committed to helping students, teachers and professionals make the
transition to 3D modeling easy, fun and cost-effective. Going forward,
SolidWorks will continue to support educational initiatives in an effort to
improve the future of 3D design in business, manufacturing and industrial
communities."
