Karl,

Due to some very erratic power in this part of the world, we use locally
made automatic voltage regulators. The specifications are:

Input: 208VAC +/- 15%
Output: 208VAC +/- 1.5%
Capacity: 80A/phase; three phase with neutral.
Response Time: 0.02 seconds/volt
Cost: about US$6,500

This AVR is connected after the transformer. 3D has looked at the
system and the field service people are satisified with the
installation. However, they would have preferred 100+A capacity to make
the breaker in the control panel the safety valve and not the AVR. We
monitored the power throughput of the SLA and found that it max'ed at
65A, so we went with the smaller unit (cost savings) and have had no
problems. Getting an AVR with a neutral lead is important as the
balance between phases is adversely affected without it.
