Steve,

We are running little O2s with R5000 180Mhz chips and 256Mb of RAM. We
regularly slice 5-10Mb STLs in less than 20 minutes. Last file was a
merge of two deep-draw metal stampings (about 12x4x4 in) and a multi
piece rod assembly totalling about 5Mb w/supports -- it sliced in less
than 10 minutes. We are running Maestro 1.9.1 (but 1.8 was the same in
that respect).

I tend to think that you have a Unix setup problem.
