Software Release Announcement
Image3, LLC would like to thank all the people that have reviewed and
evaluated the development version of the Velocity 2.0 software over the
past 6 months. Image3 is proud to announce that Velocity 2.0 has been
officially released and that the demo CD has been shipping for the last
month.
Velocity is a software package that has been designed specifically for
image processing, 3D reconstruction, 3D visualization, and production of
high-resolution STL files.
The software contains five packages:
Image - an image processor and high-resolution surface reconstructor that
includes gray value, filtering , masking, and morphololgical operations.
Surfer - a surface generator that processes volumetric data sets and stores
a geometry file.
Display - a visualization program that displays and animates 3D models, and
includes functions for surface smoothing and geometric transformations.
Polymerge - merges small surface polygons into larger ones over flat
survcses to reduce polygon count.
STLConvert - creates binary or ASCII format STL files from 3D model
geometry data.
The software is X Windows / Motif compliant, and runs on Silicon Graphics
worsktations. It has benefits to designers working in fields such as
medical devices and reverse engineering because it can accept computed
tomography (CT) and magnetic resonance (MR) data sets and process them into
STL file format for prototyping applications.
