Just Some observations.

Beware blown foam.
Beware wooden boxes.
Use highly dense foam rubber where the outline of the part is cut out.
Any further fixing of the piece within the rubber can be done with foam
wedges.
Always Double box leaving at least 2" on evervy side of the box.
Keep the packing simple--Don't fake yourself out.

For excellent packing information go visit a company that packs art or a
the person in charge at a museum who ships 1000 year old china. There is
a body of literature (not at my fingertips) regarding proper packing for
art. Check with a local museum.
