The CC technique is a hybrid additive/formative process because the
shapes it builds are partly determined by building up material and partly
by exerting pressures on materials that have been laid down. It is thus
not comparable to a laser cutting technique which may be either
subtractive or hybrid subtractive/additive, but has no formative
component. The arrival of formative processes is an exciting development.
