Bob,
Ironically I made a presentation today to an industry group interested
in learning more about understanding and applying "rapid
technologies". Present at the forum was representation from RPrs like
Paramount. Combined we represented SLS, SLA and LOM. One of the
points dicussed was ACES. Since Paramount represented SLS RapidTool
process I asked the 3D System representative if ACES has been tried
with GF resins. He did'nt know. Not surprising considering how
quickly we're moving from can't dos to can dos. Thanks for the info.
On your correction in Paramount's "Rapid Tooling Selection Guide"
first thanks for the compliment. Second I hope 3D Systems considers
that this was published before 3D aquired KelTool. Future information
guides that we plan to publish will have correct reference to 3D
KelTool.

Jim,
Thank you for the rapid tooling selection guide. It seems to provide some
very useful information. Two quick notes: 1) KelTool tooling was recently
purchased by 3D Systems, which now calls the process 3D Keltool. 2) A new
process called Direct AIM (Direct ACES Injection Molding) is rapidly
becoming popular among SL (stereolithography) users. The process utilizes
cores and cavities build directly on an SLA using the ACES build style. In
one particular project, the customer was able to shoot approximately 200 40%
glass-filled nylon parts in a two day period. While the process itself is
still being improved, for a handfull of users it has already proven itself
to be a very rapid way to prototype tooling for many production plastics.

Mr. Williams,
A couple of months back, you published a message on RP-ML discussing your
"Rapid Tool Selection Guide". Could you e-mail me some information
regarding this guide (cost, etc.).
