Another useful contact might be found at "Microfab
Technologies" they at one pont had done work with NASA on metal
droplet deposition. Sorry about the lack of phone number and such

Sankaran,

I am also working on droplet deposition for use in the RP field but am
concentrating on the deposition of metals. You have not stated which type
of material you are intending to use so the following information
(limited though it may be) all concentrate on the deposition of molten
metals.

Papers include:-

"Application of Ink Jet Technology to Microelectronic Packaging", D.J.
Hayes and D.B. Wallace, ISHM '89 Proceedings.

"Manufacturing Parts, Drop by Drop", Compressed Air Magazine, March 1995,
pp38-44, Anon Author.

"Automated Electronic Circuit Manufacturing Using Ink-Jet Technology",
D.B. Wallace, Journal of Electronic Packaging, June 1989, vol.111, pp108-111.

"Picoliter Solder Droplet Dispensing", Hayes D.J., Wallace D.B., Boldman
M.T., Marusak R.E., International Journal of Microcircuits and Electronic
Packaging 1993, 16, No.3, pp173-180.

"Application of Ink Jet Technology to Adhesive Dispensing", Wallace D.B.,
Hayes D.J., (don't know how I found this one).

There is also a relevant paper in the '93(?) Proceedings of the Solid
Freeform Fabrication Symposium in Austin, Texas. It was written by Ain
Sonin of MIT (and I've still to get a copy of it for myself).

Web-sites include:-

My own at http://www.buckscol.ac.uk/tech/allanweb.html
Mellissa Orme at UCI http://www.eng.uci.edu/~maeadmin/Faculty/ORME.html

I hope this gives you a good starting point, as there is limited
information on this area.

If anyone else has any other information on this, please could you email
it to me or post it on this list.

MacCheers.

Allan.
