From: WEB (WEB@biba.uni-bremen.de)
Date: Thu Aug 01 1996 - 13:07:20 EEST

Dear Rapid Prototypers,

Getting prototypes faster and with better quality is the central issue of
this list.
As we all know, this aim is embedded into the general objective of
reducing time to market.
To reach this, not only the technical, but the organisational methods
have to be regarded as well.
Therefore, we hope that the following annoncement is not regarded as
being off-topic:

Please find enclosed the invitation and programme of our European
Workshop

PACE'96 - A Practical Approach to Concurrent Engineering,

September 16, 1996,
at BIBA, Bremen, Germany.

Yours sincerely,
Frithjof Weber

A PRACTICAL APPROACH TO CONCURRENT ENGINEERING

European Workshop

September 16, 1996
BIBA, Bremen, Germany

INVITATION AND PROGRAMME
===========================

1. ON THE SUBJECT

In recent years, Concurrent Engineering (CE) has become widely used
as an effective concept of product development. Principles such as
parallelism, cooperation and integration have gained strong attention
for improving success factors like lead time, development costs and
product quality.

However, it is often unclear how to reach these principles. There is a
need for guidelines, methods and tools supporting a company's move
towards CE. Especially, there is a want for practical approaches that
can be implemented by the companies themselves.

The PACE project has developed a holistic infrastructure consisting of
a set of complementary tools and methods for the introduction of
Concurrent Engineering:

- A CE Implementation Framework for the guided introduction of CE
- A CE Workbench comprising a set of tools for decision support
- A Knowledge Platform about CE

2. AIMS OF THE WORKSHOP

The Workshop is held to present the approaches and intermediate
results of the PACE project to the European industrial and scientific
community.

By means of demonstrations and discussions, you will be encouraged
to exchange opinions and experiences with experts and industrial
users.

PACE'96 will allow you to meet your Concurrent Engineering
challenges.
