Dear John,

The best place to check out the cutting edge on technical research
in this field is the Solid Freeform Fabrication Symposium held at U Texas
Austin each August. Your school may have the proceedings from past years
or you can get them from the Mech. Eng Dept. at UT. If you can handle the
travel, students get a bargain on admission, just $50. RP Report also
carried a summary of the conference last September.

Another important source for keeping technically up-to-date is the
Rapid Prototyping Journal. Ian Gibson and Ian Campbell on the this list
can tell you how to subscribe (which you should get your library to do:
it's a bit pricey for students).

Good luck on your Ph.D. research.

Best regards,
Marshall Burns
