---------------------------------- Announcement:

On March 14-15 and June 6-7, 1996, the CalTech Industrial Relations
Center will present the new executive program

     AGILE MANUFACTURING AND RAPID PROTOTYPING

at the California Institute of Technology in Pasadena, California.

     The program leaders are
Dr. Marshall Burns, President, Ennex Fabrication Technologies
Alan G. Dunn, President, GDI Consulting and Training Co.

This two-day executive program introduces the concepts and tools of
automated fabrication, rapid prototyping, and their related technologies.
You will learn how to get your products to market faster, at lower cost,
and with better quality than ever before. You will acquire techniques
that can cut your design time by more than half. You will understand how
to slash up to 80 percent or more out of your prototyping schedule and
budget. You will learn how to quickly and economically turn your designs
into manufactured products.

This course benefits technology managers, manufacturing engineers,
and design personnel, as well as executives concerned with strategic
planning and business development. The tools acquired are useful in all
manufacturing sectors, including automotive, aerospace, electronics,
medical devices, consumer products, and toys. Other industries that can
benefit from this course include medical imaging, architecture, and film
making.

     Major issues covered include:
** How to be a rapid, agile, customer-responsive manufacturer
** The modern tools of rapid prototyping, rapid tooling, and rapid
manufacturing
** How to bring rapid prototyping and agile manufacturing tools
into your organization quickly and effectively

The topic headings in the program agenda are:
 1. What is Agile Manufacturing?
 2. The Tools of Rapid Prototyping and Agile Manufacturing
 3. Applying the Tools, Part I
 4. The Role of Rapid Prototyping in Agile Manufacturing
 5. Applying the Tools, Part II
 6. From Rapid Prototyping to Rapid Manufacturing
 7. Selecting, Acquiring, and Implementing the New Technologies

Special features of this program include:
** An interactive workshop using CAD and fabricators in the
classroom for a real, hands-on experience of the technology
and what it can do for you.
** The text, "Automated Fabrication--Improving Productivity in
Manufacturing" by Marshall Burns is provided to each
participant, together with comprehensive lecture
notes and supplementary materials.
** Case examples from industry-leading implementers, such as 3M
Company, Baxter Healthcare, Chrysler, Electrolux, and Mattel.
** On the first evening of the program, participants are invited
to a special dinner which provides an opportunity to meet with
the program leaders and other participants to share
information and ideas on an informal basis.

The 1996 registration fee of $1295 includes the program, textbook,
lecture notes, supplementary materials, parking, continental breakfasts and
lunches.
