Dear Jim,
     Gary Lewis at Los Alamos has developed a process he calls Directed 
Light Fabrication (or something close to that). There are, as far as I 
know, two projects aimed at commericalizing this idea. It is also similar 
to a method developed at the Fraunhofer Institute and reported at last 
year's Austin conference. I think most of this work is still too early to 
address accuracy and surface finish in a meaningful way just yet. These 
are interesting ideas, and could lead to important results in some years 
time.
