Hello Lena,
At SINTEF we are making direct RP tools for wax, using the Cubital process.
These tools are used directly with presure casting of wax, allowing a low
temperature of the wax and minimum shrinkage.
Actually we make more wax tools then positive models these days. The
largest mould so far is for a pump wheel with dia 360 mm/hight 250 mm. The
mould is roughly 100 mm bigger, and split into 6 pieces.
We have not determined the lifetime of the moulds, but there is no visible
damage after 50 shots. The heat transefer is no problem as long as you
keep the cycle time at 10 minutes as minimum.
We will tell more about this on the Nordic confernace in Gothenburg on Feb.
7-8, hope to see you then.
Kind regards
Reidar
