Yes, we at Plynetics (and I believe others) have done lots of this.

We run both SLAs and Sinterstations, and have used both processes to make 
masters.Once the master is made and finished, we cast aluminum-filled epoxy 
(or urethane) around the part to make a mold cavity. In some cases, the mold 
is encased in an aluminum block for better heat transfer and durability.

It has also been demonstrated that both SLS-Polycarbonate w/epoxy and SLA 
epoxy resin (I'm not sure if it was 5170 or 5180) can be used to directly 
make molds for wax injection. (Helisys is also doing this.) However, I 
believe that the thermal conductivity of aluminum-filled epoxies are better 
that any of these of these RP materials.
