Ahem...well, you see... it's like this...Niente...
There isn't all that much going on here in Italy at all when it comes
to RP/SFM. The absence of interest or involvement by most of the
academic institutions is just another example of the chaotic and
unthinking public administration with which this country is blessed
(or cursed), and is also one of the reasons why only 8 systems have
so far been installed in the entire country (up from 5 three months ago).
However, to answer your questions contact the following:
1) Prof. Umberto Cugini
Universita degli Studi di Parma
Dipartimento di Ingegneria Industriale
Viale delle Scienze - 43100 Parma, ITALY
Tel: +39 (0)521 905900
Fax: +39 (0)521 905705
email: robot@labcad1.eng.unipr.it
Professor Cugini also heads the "Robotica" project at CNR, where he is
preparing a WWW site as part of the E(uropean) A(ction) on RP Directory.
2) Prof. Rosolino Ippolito
Politecnico di Torino
Dipartimento di Sistemi di Produzione ed Economia dell'Azienda
Corso Duca degli Abruzzi, 24
10129 Torino, ITALY
Tel: +39 (0) 11 564 7261
Fax: +39 (0) 11 564 7299
Sorry, I don't have his email address
Prof. Ippolito is in charge of the Italian part of an EC funded project
under the Brite Euram initiative.
That's basically it. Other work is being undertaken by Fiat, who have two
RP systems, and Gilardoni SpA, which belongs to the CARP consortium,
however these two companies are not in the info sharing business.
As you can see, it's very small beer compared with what's going on
elsewhere, though I think and fervently hope that1995 will see some
more italian RP/SFM action than in the past.
Auguri, tanti auguri
Yakov
