In the Eureka! Project CARP we use the term Fast Free Form Fabrication or
FFFF or 4F. We wanted to avoid using the term Rapid Prototyping as we
understand this to mean developing better complex products more
quickly by integrating CAD, CAE and FFFF, i.e. the FFFF is only part
of the story.
Although we use FFFF I'm not sure that we like it. It hardly
trips off the tongue! My feeling is that the layman will understand the
term layer manufacturing best to cover the technologies normally discussed
 by this group.
