     1. We are members of the Computer Aided Rapid prototyping (CARP) project which is investigating 
role of layered manufacturing in car power train component development. Project managers are Ricardo 
Consulting Engineers ltd. After extensive investigation of the requirements and the provision of 
benchmark models we are about to choose a machine for the project but also to support th e academic 
requirements of the mech eng dept at leeds. The decision date is 18aug.
     If anyone would like further information about this Eureka project, do niot hesitate to contact me.
     2. My colleagues and I are editing a special edition of CADjournal on rapid prototyping. With one or 
two notable exceptions, paers have been slow to materialise. if anyone has research material they would 
like to submit for  review, there is still time. Currently we are encouraging people to send their papers by 
the end of september.
     Again ,if people are interested i will send the calling letter.
